Obituary

With deepest sorrow we at Henryhand Funeral Home regret to announce the passing of Alphonza Benekin, 78, husband of Elizabeth Benekin of Pineville, SC, who passed away on Saturday, August 22, 2026.

The Obituary

"I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course,

and I have kept the faith."  2 Timothy 4:7

Alphonza "Truman" Benekin was born January 23, 1948, to the late Willie and Viola Benekin. He entered eternal rest on August 22, 2026, at his residence. His life was a blessing to those who knew and loved him, and his memory will forever remain in the hearts of family, friends, and all who were touched by his presence.

Alphonza received his education through the Berkeley County School System and was a member of Redeemer R.E. Church. Truman will be remembered for the love he shared, the wisdom he offered, and the kindness he showed throughout his journey. He carried himself with strength and dignity, leaving behind a legacy of cherished moments, meaningful lessons, and lasting love. He was also full of jokes (hey that's all folk)

He leaves to cherish his memory: his loving wife of fifty-four years, Elizabeth Benekin; his children, Luvenia Brown of Charleston, South Carolina, Valeria Benekin of Pineville, South Carolina, Carl Lamont Benekin (Lisa) of St. Stephen, South Carolina, Truman Alphonza Benekin of the home, Kevin Benekin of Summerville, South Carolina and Samantha Gamble (Otis) of Salters, South Carolina; twenty-two grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren; his mother-in-law, Carrie Bell Lambright of St. Stephen, South Carolina; his siblings, Mary Hollis of Lexington, North Carolina, and Lareese Postell of Jacksonville, Florida in-laws, Dollie Ann Cummings (Royal) of Timmonsville, South Carolina, Rena May Ravenell of Cross, South Carolina, Pearl Mitchell of Columbia, South Carolina, Julius Lambright (Roxanne) of Murrells Inlet, South Carolina, Evelyn President (Reginald) of St. Stephen, South Carolina, and Patsy Stevens of St. Stephen, South Carolina; his aunts, Rose Lee Benekin, Charlotte Wigfall, and Albertha Chandler; his special cousins, Agnes Washington and Wilhelmina Powell; along with other beloved relatives and friends whose lives were enriched by knowing him.

"Forever loved, forever remembered"
