Remembering a Life Well Lived
"Good timber does not grow with ease; the stronger the wind, the stronger the trees." ~Old Proverbs
The earthly journey of Alice Merle Fraiser began on May 25, 1938, in Appling County, Georgia, and ended peacefully on February 10, 2026, at McLeod Regional Medical Center in Florence, South Carolina. Born to the late Emanuel "Manning" Williams and Mattie Williams, she lived 88 years marked by strength, grace, and unwavering love.
Raised in Baxley, Georgia, Alice was educated in the Appling County School System and later pursued further education to enter the social service field, dedicating herself to caring for others. She met and married the love of her life, John Fraiser, Sr., and together they were blessed with three beautiful children, creating a legacy of love.
Alice was employed as a social worker at the Anthony L. Jordan Health Center in Rochester, New York, where she provided essential support and advocacy to individuals and families in need, leaving a meaningful imprint on the community she served. After several years, she followed her husband's lead and relocated to his hometown in Georgetown, South Carolina. There, she continued her life of service in the hospitality industry in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, and became a foster mother to those in need (Samuel "Bone" Simmons) before her retirement.
It was in Georgetown that she answered the call of God upon her life and became deeply rooted in the Apostolic doctrine. As the Word declares, "Your latter shall be greater," and indeed it was. Alice became a faithful and active member of Starlight #1 Holiness Church, where she was affectionately known as Mother Alice — a title that reflected the wisdom, guidance, and spiritual strength she so graciously shared.
Alice was preceded in death by: her husband, John Fraiser Sr.; her parents, Manning and Mattie Williams, and the following brothers and sisters, Clevester Carter, David E. Williams, Velma Lewis, Dorothy Roberson, John Edgar Williams, Dr. Levern Carter, Dr. Vivian Chance, Ruby Wellmaker, Navada Williams and Quinton Roberson.
She leaves to cherish her memories: two sons, John (Norine) Fraiser II of Georgetown, SC and Mark (Renee) Fraiser of Florence, SC; one daughter, Sonya (Darrin) Yarborough of Florence, SC and first grandson, Traneir Fraiser (Crystal) of Atlanta, GA; two sisters, Annie D. Williams and Valarie Ryan both of Baxley, GA; one brother, Arthur L. (Agnes) Williams of Baxley, GA; 10 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
All arrangements and professional services have been entrusted to Henryhand Funeral Home of Andrews, SC. 843-354-2292.
