Obituary

With deepest sorrow we at Henryhand Funeral Home regret to announce the passing of Albertha Simmons, 83, of Goose Creek, SC, widow of the late Carl Simmons, who passed away on Saturday, April 4, 2026.

Life Reflections

Albertha Shirley Myers Simmons, daughter of the late Reverend Frank Myers, Sr. and Queenie Green Myers, was born on January 30, 1943, in St. Stephen, South Carolina. At an early age, she was saved and baptized at St. Stephen Missionary Baptist Church, beginning a lifelong journey of faith and devotion. She was educated in the Berkeley County Public School System.

In 1960, Albertha welcomed her first child, Kenneth Myers Sr. Later in life, she met and married her first husband, Evans Page. From this union, she welcomed two children, Kevin Page and Mozell Paulette Page Ricks. This marriage later ended due to his passing. In the late 1970s, she married Carl Simmons, who preceded her in death in 2013.

Albertha dedicated over 15 years of service as a Certified Nursing Assistant at Harlem Hospital. In the late 1980s, she and her husband relocated to South Carolina, where they purchased their first home. There, she lovingly cared for her mother, Queenie Myers, until her passing in 2001, an act of devotion for which she was honored and recognized by her siblings. She later extended that same compassion in caring for her mother-in-law.

Known for her nurturing spirit, Albertha had a heart for helping others. She opened her home to many nieces and nephews throughout her life, raising and caring for them as her own. She was a faithful and dedicated member of Miracle Christian Center, under the leadership of Pastor Anthony Holmes, where she served as a Mother of the Church for many years. Albertha found joy in shopping, traveling, and tending to others. She especially cherished spending time with her grandchildren and visiting family members near and far.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl Simmons; her daughter, Mozell Paulette Page Ricks; her grandson, Dominick Ricks Jr.; and her siblings, Willie Myers, Fannie McNeil, Robert Myers, Eldora Canty, and Joe Myers.

She leaves to cherish her loving memory: two sons, Kenneth Myers, Sr. and Kevin Page; a special niece, Debbie Myers-Thompson; twelve grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; three brothers, Arthur (Rena), Melvin (Joyce) and Benjamin (Justine); and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

The family is receiving friends and family at 62 Lighthouse Drive, Goose Creek, SC.

All arrangements and professional services have been entrusted to Henryhand Funeral Home of St. Stephen, SC. 843-354-2292.
