Mrs. Pauline Brown Henryhand, daughter of the late Benjamin and Mary Brown, was born December 17, 1933 in Trio, South Carolina. She departed her earthly life on Sunday, May 1, 2011 at her residence in Kingstree, South Carolina.
“Pearl,” as she was affectionately called , was a faithful member of Greater Bethel A.M.E Church. She was a member and one time president of the Steward Board, Trustee Board and Usher. She was member of the Eastern Star Chapter and the Missionary Department.
She attended the public schools of Williamsburg County. She enjoyed playing basketball while in school.
Pearl, worked as a steam press operator. She enjoyed gardening and working in her yard.
Pearl was united in Holy Matrimony in 1951 to the late Samuel McCray. This union was blessed with one son, Andrew “Jerry” McCray.
Pearl was preceded in death by three brothers: Bennett Brown, Willie Brown, Cliff Brown and one sister, Bessie Wilson
Pearl was later married to the late Edsil Henryhand in 1975.
Pearl was a loving and caring person. She always had encouraging words and loved every person she came in contact with.
Loved ones left to cherish her memories are: her loving son, Andrew “Jerry” (Cassandra) McCray of Rockhill, SC; two stepdaughters, Delores L. (Thomas) Magwood and Renee Henryhand both of Philadelphia, PA; three sisters, Maggie Brown of Georgetown, SC, Carrie Medley of Baltimore, MD and Castelia (George Sr.) Frazier of W. Bronx, NY; two nieces raised as sisters, Rosa Lee “Boot” Evans of Georgetown, SC and Betty “Jane” (Carlos) Camaro of Baltimore, MD; along with a host of other nieces, nephews, other relatives and dear friends.
